Zoom Branch – Beta Delta

The first Zoom Branch of ESA in Australia was officially chartered on Wednesday, 26th March 2025.

State President Carmel Mulcahy warmly welcomed seven women from across Queensland into ESA during a traditional Candle-light ceremony—held virtually through the wonders of modern technology.

Marilyn & Pam meet at half yearly Meeting

This new branch was the vision of Jenny Hendricks, a dedicated leader and former State President (2023–24). Recognising the need for an ESA group beyond traditional settings, Jenny created a space where former members and those who may feel isolated could continue their involvement and connection within the organisation.

Charter members were:
Trudy Adams from Mt Isa
Kathy Cavanagh from Bribie Island
Val Files from Sunnybank Hills
Pam Harris from Childers
Alison Muir from Sandy Creek
Marilyn Provians from Beachmere
Marianne Steentsma from Booval

Charter President was Marilyn Provians, who had previously served as State President in 1987-88 but had lost touch with ESA after moving
Charter Vice-President was Trudy Adams a new member to ESA
Charter Secretary was Kathy Cavanagh A.M. a former member of the Redcliffe Branch
Charter Treasurer was Pam Harris who was a former ESA member

Marilyn chose as her theme for the year “Through Zoom we will Bloom”

Beta Delta meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month at 7p.m.

New members are always welcome – if you would like to join in on a Wednesday evening contact Kathy on cavsav@bigpond.net.au

Beta Delta is moving ahead slowly with the officialdom, with two more charter members signing the
charter. Trudy Adams, based in Mt Isa, made a trip to the “Big Smoke”.

Pam Harris, from Childers, caught up with Jenny to continue the process. (Do you think cake was
involved in the process??)
We still need another member or two to be entitled to open a bank account. There were some possibilities
mooted at Convention – we would appreciate assistance in this increase to our membership.
Our last education meeting was focussed on us each talking about our home town. These ranged from
anecdotal experiences of growing up in that location, to quite detailed, historical details on the
town. Unfortunately Marianne had technical difficulties, so we look forward to her story at the end
of our next business meeting.
We are looking forward to our August Education meeting when Patron Bev Mirolo OAM, will be joining
us. This truly capitalises the advantages of technology! And of course you can join us too, just
let me know at cavsav@bigpond.net.au and I will send you the link.
Yours in ESA
Kathy Cavanagh AM
Secretary, Beta Delta
